CCTV Visits LA to Interview TCG, LA Mayor, and Key Partners for a Documentary Series
July 19, 2012
洛杉矶 - China Central Television, China’s national television network, recently completed a visit to 洛杉矶 to shoot footage and conduct interviews for a documentary featuring US-China cooperation aspects of Kung Fu Cultural Theme Park and the greater Wudang Mountain regional development, to which Ikonic Entertainment Group Ltd., a TCG portfolio company, has been a major contributor through a design and development contract that was consummated last December at a signing ceremony in Beijing.
Last December’s signing ceremony garnered nationwide attention toward the development of Wudang Mountain in China and was covered by the Wall Street Journal, 洛杉矶 Times, and many other major media worldwide. Ikonic Entertainment Group, a TCG joint venture with Landmark Entertainment’s Tony Christopher, has been hired to do the concept design work for Kung Fu Cultural Theme Park. This unique fusion of US technology and know-how with Chinese culture prompted CCTV to produce a special three-episode documentary series to follow the progress and success of this project which will air this October in China.
The purpose of the crew’s LA visit was to film Ikonic’s work and interview current and former government officials including LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former US Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor who attended the signing ceremony last December. Additionally, CCTV interviewed Jennifer Nielson, the Director of Kung Fu Panda II, the highest ever grossing film directed by a woman. Her studio, Dreamworks, combined Chinese culture with American technology, production, and distribution to create a global sensation. CCTV also interviewed a senior advisor to TCG, Dr. Robert Orlando, a professor at Harvard and Johns Hopkins. Dr. Orlando has been sought by Taichi Lake Group, the main developer of the Wudang Mountain region, to create a health care center in the mountains fusing Chinese and western approaches to preventive care set amongst the clean air and natural beauty of a UN World Heritage site.
Taichi Lake Group has formed a joint venture with a local government entity, paving the way for a RMB 3 billion low interest loan from the Agricultural Bank of China, to be used for the development of multiple projects including the Kung Fu Cultural Theme Park. The park will host a groundbreaking ceremony in August of this year and is expected to open to the public in late 2014.
