Originally appointed to this role in May of 2009, Mr. Chen and his team at TCG have assisted Chinese companies in accomplishing complicated cross-border mergers and acquisitions and have assisted foreign companies to expand in China by crafting equitable and sustainable business partnerships in Beijing. Industries covered by TCG under this framework include auto parts, pharmaceuticals, clean technologies and entertainment.

TCG’s most recent accomplishment with Beijing was the successful acquisition of Nexteer Automotive, General Motors' steering systems business unit, by Beijing-based Pacific Century Motors. This transaction was hailed as “one of the landmark deals of the era” by the Wall Street Journal on November 8, 2010. TCG originated the deal and assisted in leading this acquisition by acting as a special advisor to the Chinese buyer.

"Beijing understands both the value and necessity of fostering a balanced, sustainable growth environment in order to attract world-class firms and help them flourish as global players," said Mr. Chen. He added: "We look forward to continuing our productive relationship with Beijing and to helping the municipality achieve its ambitious development goals."
